Ideas and practice for the Penguin Book Cover Awards. The brief was to design a book cover on the word "speed". After some thumbnail sketches and writing down ideas of fast objects and related things to do with "speed", I used the act of a fast-moving object (an arrow in this case) and the give it the element of speed, I cut it off at the edge, as if the "camera" went off too slow to catch the fast moving object. I also used pastel and smudged the colour with my fingers to show a movement in the arrow's feathers.
